In Inca times Cusco was the capital city, called “Qosqo”. Was the most important city of the Inca Empire in South America. In the present day Cusco is a fascinating city with a great mixture of colonial buildings as: churches, monasteries, convents and a great Inca architecture as the foundation for the city. With Exploring Cusco tour you will be able to visit all the most essential sites of this magical land of the Incas.
Upon arrival, reception by our representatives at the airport of Cusco. Then you will be transported to your hotel in the down-town of the city. There will some free time to rest and get acclimatized to the altitude. Cusco is located at 11000 ft.
At the appropriate time we will pick you up from the hotel. Then start our Exploring Cusco tour walking to the down town of the City. Where you will be able to observe the mixture of Inca and Spanish structures. You have chance to walk around the main square to see some of the catholic churches and the beautiful Inca streets. The guide also will take you to San Pedro, the interesting local market of Cusco.
We start driving towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the main route to Pisac. On the way we stop at Awana Cancha. Where the guide will explain us the traditional weaving process of the textiles. There will be time to see the South American camels (llamas, alpacas and vicuñas). You can also purchase some of the hand-made textiles.
Our next stop will be at the look out of Taray. Where you will have a panoramic view of the Urubamba valley. You then continue to the spectacular ruins of Pisac. Here you will explore the most important parts of this big Inca Archaeological complex.
Later after lunch we will visit the colonial town of Pisac. Which has a nice traditional market on Sundays. On the way down to Urubamba we will pass Lamay town (famous for roasted guinea pigs). Then finally you will get to the hotel in Urubamba.
In the morning we will have a short drive through Maras a picturesque colonial town. Arriving to Moray (the Inca experimental center). We will have time to explore this fascinating place. Then we continue to the fascinating salt mine own by locals. At the salt mine the guide will show us all the process to harvest the natural salt. Then we have 30 minutes drive to Urubamba for lunch.
In the afternoon we will drive to Ollantaytambo. This is a very attractive town of Inca origin with remarkable channels and stone streets. In its high part one rises to an impressive ceremonial center of cult to the water and a fortress that guarded the access to the inferior part of the valley.
At the schedule time, we will take the train down to Aguas Calientes town.
After breakfast our guide will lead you to the bus station. Then you will have a 30 minute bus drive to the entrance of Machu Picchu. An expert tour guide will transmit us all the history of this sacred sanctuary. You will visit Sun temple, royal palace, main temple, three windows temple, Sun dial and some other temples. We usually book the best circuits for our customers.
At the scheduled time we will go down to Aguas Calientes and then return to Cusco.
At the scheduled time our transfer will take to the airport for your flight to Lima.
